The Middle Years Development Instrument (MDI) is a self-report questionnaire completed by children in Grades 4 through 8. It asks them how they think and feel about their experiences both inside and outside of school. The Greater Victoria School District has participated in the MDI since the 2016-17 school year.

The BC Adolescent Health Survey is a province-wide survey administered to youth in Grade 7 to 12 every five years since 1992. The survey gives an evidence base of youth health trends, emerging issues, and risk and protective factors for healthy development. The AHS is developed and administered by the McCreary Centre Society
