*As of October 1st, 2024, more consistent and formalized processes for obtaining informed consent from parents/guardians has been initiated in SD 61. Informed consent is the on-going process of reaching an agreement to work together collaboratively. During the on-going process of consent for designation, school personnel provide parents & guardians with as much information as a reasonable or prudent person would want to know before making a decision that involves their child. This information is shared in an objective, yet detailed manner. Parents are also given the time and opportunity to reflect and ask questions. Consent must be voluntary, and if given, can be withdrawn at any time.
